April was a fun month for Heart ‘n Home Volunteer Services! National Volunteer Appreciation Week was April 18th-24th and we enjoyed dedicating an entire week to appreciating our Volunteers! We ended this special week with an all office Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. We are extremely grateful for all our Volunteers contribute to our program!
Heart ‘n Home loves celebrating the successes of our Volunteers! In 2009, Heart ‘n Home Volunteers donated 7,352 hours and drove 69,050 miles in service to Heart ‘n Home patients and families. Additionally, we had a large increase in Presidential Volunteer Service Award Winners this year! We had 25 Volunteers recognized for their accomplishments and give heart felt congratulations to all those who received awards!
The President’s Volunteer Service Award Program was established in 2003 to honor Americans who by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service. The award is measured by the number of service hours over a 12-month period or cumulative hours earned over the course of a lifetime: Bronze Level (100 to 249 hours), Silver Level (250 to 499 hours), and Gold Level (500 hours or more).
We are so proud of the outstanding service our Volunteers give and know that they are a huge piece of the amazing care we give to our patients and families. Let this blog be a salute to all volunteers around the world!
Do you have a special volunteering experience to share? Or do you know anyone who is a volunteer that has touched your heart?
