In hospice, typically we only have one chance to make a patient and family’s end-of-life experience a special one, so we make a conscious effort to make sure we do all that we can to achieve that.
Our employees are trained to put ourselves in the “patient’s chair.” How would we feel if we were going through the experience that our patients and their families were? Would the service we give be legendary and more than anticipated or expected? By putting ourselves in the patient/caregiver chair and by understanding that what we do makes a difference in how we make you feel, we make every decision from that seat.
Another way we give legendary service is by asking the right questions and then taking the time to listen with zen. That means nothing else is going through our mind and we are fully engaged in active listening. When we find out what the needs and wants are then we know what we need to do to make their experience legendary.
