“My story” happened long before I ever worked at Heart ‘n Home. While thinking back to how hospice and specifically Heart ‘n Home has affected me, all I could really come up with was that they were so great to offer me a position among them. But as I dug deeper, I realized during the Volunteer Training that I recently attended, that Heart ‘n Home has been so much more. While we were having lunch, I looked around the room and realized that all our new Volunteers have had someone on our services. The most significant one is from my other half whose mother was on services in 2014. I remembered that when she was originally put on services, it was with a different hospice. It only took one week to realize the poor service they were receiving and they switched to Heart ‘n Home. This is virtually the same story as another Volunteer in training today. Since then, we have had numerous people that we have known, come on to the services of Heart ‘n Home. I have never heard anyone say anything bad about this company or the services that are offered.
While on services, our mom was in a facility and was instantly drawn to Ben, Social Worker at Heart ‘n Home. They had an immediate connection. Not only because of how great of a Social Worker he is, but that they both share the same name. After Ben talked with her for a while, they realized that they were related to each other and that both of their families were from Utah. It made quite an impact on our family because she struggled to connect with people as she went deeper into her Alzheimer’s. It is something that the entire family talks about to this day.
I am full of gratitude to Heart ‘n Home for serving La Grande and providing excellent care to the people in this community. As our office continues to grow, we are coming together as a strong force to achieve exceptional care and support, not only for our community, but also for each other.
