Better Business Bureau Northwest + Pacific is proud to announce the 2019 Torch Award for Ethics winner for the business of the year. This recognition honors an organization that demonstrates exceptional commitment to building trust and integrity with their customers, fellow business owners, and communities. BBB awarded Heart ‘n Home Hospice as Idaho Businesses of the Year and Boise Rescue Mission as Idaho’s Charity of the Year winners.  The Torch Award is the most prestigious BBB award presented to exceptional organizations for their dedication to integrity and ethical business practices. Each year, Better Business Bureau holds open nominations and applications for our Torch Awards program throughout the Northwest + Pacific. We allow the public to acknowledge businesses that embody high standards of trust, performance, and integrity.  The BBB Standards for Trust are eight principles that summarize important elements of creating trust in the marketplace. It is a set of best practices that enhance customer trust and serves as the basis for the BBB Accreditation.

The eight principles are as follows:

  • Tell the Truth
  • Be Transparent
  • Honor Promises
  • Be Responsive
  • Safeguard Privacy
  • Embody Integrity

“We are so honored to announce the Torch Award winners for 2019,” said BBB NW+P CEO Tyler Andrew. “This award represents ethical achievement and symbolizes the highest level of trust in the marketplace. These businesses truly deserve the spotlight for their dedication to these values.”

This year, nearly 300 businesses and charities were nominated for the Torch Award for Ethics. Each applicant goes through a meticulous application process that is then reviewed by independent, voluntary panels of judges comprised of community leaders.
