Interview Process

Heart ‘n Home recognizes the effort it takes to apply for any position. We appreciate your interest in Heart ‘n Home and strive to communicate with potential applicants as best as possible. Be patient as we navigate the application process. It may take up to 4 weeks for final selection to be made. Also, please know that all employees are subject to a background check and pre-employment drug screening before they can be considered for employment.

1st Round of Interviews

Due to the high number of applicants we receive for some positions, Heart ‘n Home may utilize a group interview. The group interview is intended to accommodate a large number of applicants into a pool. This is a way for us to meet and question a higher volume of people at one time. Typically groups consist of 10-20 individuals and involves approximately 10 written questions based on the Heart ‘n Home Family Core Values, a typing WPM test, and other computer skills testing.

2nd Round of Interviews

After group interviews are completed, we select up to 10-12 candidates to come in for a more formal interview. We call these our management interviews, because the interview panel consists of the different managers and direct supervisors involved with the position. There are times when we are not able to do the group interviews and the management interview step is the beginning of the interview process. This interview will always include a set of behavioral-based questions and an opportunity for the candidate to ask any questions about the position or Heart ‘n Home. Occasionally, we do have candidates do a 5-10 minute presentation or additional computer skills testing. Managers select only the top 2-3 candidates to move on to the next phase of interviews.

3rd Round of Interviews

This is the final phase of the Heart ‘n Home interview process. Mangers pass on 2-3 of the best candidates to a Peer Interview Team. Peer Interview Teams are a selection of peers from the office where the position is located. These peers are high performing employees that interview final candidates and select who they feel is the best addition to the Heart ‘n Home family. The interview is very similar to the management interview and includes an additional set of behavioral-based questions. Once the Peer Team has selected the individual for hire, we will need to run a background check before an official offer is made. All employees are subject to a background check and pre-employment drug screening before they can be considered for employment.
