This is how I got into hospice:
I grew up as the daughter of a nurse. A mother who’s passion for nurturing her family & others was endless. She became a hospice nurse when I was still very young; too young to know the impact she had every day on so many. She was passion, empathy, comfort & love, and each patient meant the world to her. Her mom was one of her patients.
My grandmother had ovarian cancer in her early 50′s. She was utilizing her hospice benefit with a local agency that did not fight for patient rights. Her cancer had metastasized to her brain and she was in constant pain, physical & emotional pain . My mom knew that her journey to the end could be better, much better. We moved her from a nursing home, into our tiny home, where she then lived with us and my mom became her hospice nurse.
I am an advocate for every patient who has a terminal illness. My mission is to connect them with their hospice benefit and ensure that with the help of
Heart ‘n Home Hospice & Palliative Care, they receive the best possible care at end of life. It’s our privilege, it’s my passion.
